2017-12-29 22:42 – Alarms raised, troubleshooting started.
2017-12-29 22:50 – Sub-provider confirmed outage
2017-12-29 00:00 – Sub-provider confirms fibre cut, technician en route for troubleshooting.
2017-12-30 05:00 – Fibre cut confirmed to be in an sea cable. Marine company is being mobilized.
2017-12-30 08:30 – Pending ETA from Marine company. Sub-provider reports emergency planned work in order to physically migrate the services that cannot be logically protected are still ongoing
2017-12-30 12:00 – Technicians in site and preparing to migrate services.
2017-12-30 14:30 – Technicians are migrating affected services.
2017-12-30 16:30 – Sub-provider informed that the status of the cable repair remains the same – Estimated time of arrival to be confirmed on 1st of January.
2017-12-31 17:30 – Status for the cable repair vessel remains the same – ETA to be confirmed by the Marine company on 1st of January.
2017-12-31 18:30 – Cable repair vessel is being prepared to sail towards the location on the morning, 2nd of January. If the weather conditions are favorable, the ship is expected to arrive at proximity of the fault location on Wednesday, January 3rd.
2018-01-03 18:52 – The ship is expected to reach its destination today, Wednesday 03.01.2018 and will commence locating the exact breaking point if the weather conditions are favorable.
2018-01-03 20:00 – Due to weather conditions the ship’s arrival has been delayed until the 4th January. Splicing is estimated to be able to start the 5th January.
2018-01-04 12:30 – Ship has arrived at the break location. Due to poor weather conditions it’s taking shelter close to the coast. Repairs will commence once the weather improves.
2018-01-04 18:00 – Weather conditions have improved allowing the ship to reach the fault location. Currently the crew are looking for the cable damage on the sea bed. Timing for the initial splicing remains the same.
2018-01-04 23:30 – Damaged section has been located. However, the weather worsened again, causing strong winds along with rough sea. The bad weather conditions prevented the engineers to start with the splicing. Splicing will commence once the weather improves.
2018-01-05 11:00 – Restoration works on the cable part facing Netherland have started at. Cable will be pulled out on the surface for re-splicing and then tested. Further repair works on other section will depend on the weather conditions. More updates will be availed as they come in.
2018-01-05 17:40 – The restoration works are ongoing and tentative time of resolution is set for 10th of January PM. Time and date can be changed based on the weather conditions.
2018-01-08 13:45 – Splicing is expected to commence today in the afternoon as we expect improvement of the weather condition.
2018-01-09 12:00 – Additional damage was found at 120 meters from the break point during the cable testing. Cable armor damage was repaired and re-testing commenced. Initial splice of the cable is expected to be completed by Wednesday morning. Please, note that weather forecasts indicate strong winds overnight which may cause a delay in the restoration activities.
2018-01-10 14:00 – Supplier informs that initial splice of the cable is ongoing. Weather forecast remains good and the ETR remains unchanged. We expect the cable to be restored in late afternoon or in the evening on the 11th of January 2018. We will continue to keep you updated on the restoration progress.
2018-01-10 16:16 – Supplier informs that Scheduled completion of the 1st splice remains unchanged – this afternoon 10/01/18. Amended date for Final repair completion and deployment of the cable will be on Friday 12/01/18. Our provider’s regional Field Engineers are on standby to carry out OTDR testing and re-connection of the services on Friday, once the ship hands the cable back. We will keep you updated on the restoration progress.
2018-01-12 17:00 – Splicing has been completed, OTDR messurements are on-going.
2018-01-12 21:00 – OTDR measurements are now completed. Final molding and sealing of the join is currently ongoing.
2018-01-13 01:00 – Joint has been completed and deployed to the sea bed. End to end testing is underway from both ends.
2018-01-13 09:00 – Sub-provider confirms all testing to be completed. Outage resolved.
