2018-11-08 12:50 – Alarms raised, troubleshooting is ongoing. Sub provider contacted.
2018-11-08 13:10 – IP-Only NOC have escalated the incident to 3rd line.
2018-11-08 13:20 – Sending field engineer to site for further troubleshooting.
2018-11-08 13:50 – Technician disaptched to locate fiber cut.
2018-11-08 14:10 – Technicians estimated time of arrival is 14:30 for the initial measurements on the cable to estimate the fiber cut location.
2018-11-08 14:30 – Technician on site performing measurements on the fiber to establish the cause of the interruption.
2018-11-08 15:15 – Technician heading to possible fault location. Please note that also Private segment customers in parts of Värmland are affected. Postal codes: 67294, 67292,66693, 67010
2018-11-08 15:50 – Technician continue to narrow down possible fiber cut location.
2018-11-08 16:30 – Technician onsite in fiber well and fiber cut location have been estimated. Technician is inspecting the stretch of fiber cable for any ongoing roadworks.
2018-11-08 17:00 – Thirdline technician has re-routed some Layer 2 and 3 services (ethernet, IP-Link and internet). Some customers circuit have been restored.
2018-11-08 17:10 – Technician has found the fault location. A roadwork construction are installing streetlights along the road. There might be more locations where the fiber is damaged.
2018-11-08 17:30 – Digging team has been dispatched to site. No Estimated time of repair set. The plan going forward will require a digging team to excavate the fiber and blow new fiber in the duct. If this is not possible a secondary plan is to temporary install of fiber above ground.
2018-11-08 17:45 – A preliminary Estimate2d time of repair is set for 23:00 CET. Further issues due to work next to a main road might delay this work. We will continuously update ETR pending on the circumstance.
2018-11-08 18:10 – Digging team en route. Estimated time of arrival 18:40.
2018-11-08 18:50 – Digging team is onsite and preparation work is being done. Fiber ducts are being sourced. As the roadworks has put poles in the ground along the length of the fiber in this area, a temporary fix will be implemented and cable will be above ground for the upcoming repair..
2018-11-08 19:30 – Digging team preparation work is ongoing. We estimate that the preparation work will be completed within one hour and splicing to begin at 22:00 CET. Estimated time of repair is set to 00:00 CET due to the extent of the fiber and splice time it will require. We expect services to gradually be restored after 22:00 CET.
2018-11-08 20:00 – Camera equipment has arrived onsite to inspect if a separate spare duct is free from damage. If so the new fiber will be installed in the neighbor fiber duct and will be considered a permanent fix.
2018-11-08 20:30 – The alternative fiber duct has been affected by the road works but it is possible it will still be usable. Digging team is laying more of the duct bare and air pressure test will be made on the duct before we place the fiber above ground.
2018-11-08 21:15 – The alternative fiber duct is not usable. We have not been granted digging permit from Oslo municipality to install new fiber duct under ground. A Temporary installation of fiber above ground is under way. The ducts is being laid out next to the road and the blowing of new fiber will follow after that. We estimate splicing to begin within 2 hours. Delaying our Estimate2d time of repair to 01:00 CET.
2018-11-08 22:00 – Repair works ongoing.
2018-11-08 23:00 – Repair works ongoing.
2018-11-09 00:01 – Excavation is still ongoing. Delays are due to unforseen circumstances. IP-Only’s fiber tube is at the bottom of 11 others, this have made the excavation to take longer than expected. The preliminary Estimate2d time of repair will not be hit we will return with a new ETR when splicing has started.

2018-11-09 03:01 – Splicing is in progress. New Estimated time of repair 05:30 CET.
2018-11-09 04:01 – Splicing is in progress.
2018-11-09 05:45 – Splicing is in progress. New Estimated time of repair set to 07:00. Services will be gradually restored as the work progresses.
2018-11-09 06:30 – Splicing is in progress. Services will be continually restored as the work progresses.
2018-11-09 07:35 – Splicing is in progress. New Estimated time of repair set to 10:00 CET.
2018-11-09 07:45 – Several circuits have been restored. More updates will follow once the technicians are hands off.
2018-11-09 08:00 – Reason this work have taken longer then expected is due to proximity to highly trafficked international E-road and the extent of the damage to both ducts and fibrecable.
2018-11-09 08:35 – All fibers have been spliced and technicians is currently lowering the fiber into fiber wells. Update will follow once the technicians are hands off.
